Darshell McAlpine

Darshell McAlpine is an accomplished storyteller, depending on who you ask. Her love of reading good books grew into a love of writing them.  She has no literary awards to brag about but according to her daughter, a fine writer in her own right, Darshell is one of the greatest wordsmiths to put pen to paper. She has been writing for over thirty years, crafting literature for local magazines. Finally, she paused from an insane schedule long enough to finish Leaving With My Marbles. You can find her curled up with a book wearing a ratty t-shirt and fluffy socks somewhere in Texas where she lives with her family and two cats, Aleks and Nyla. www.darshellmcalpine.com

BOOKS

Each poem in this book was written after I experienced difficulty. Humiliating situations and other challenging encounters have caused me great pain. I believe in life if you do not pass a test, you may find yourself retaking it. Learning the lessons life has for me means I am constantly praying and reading my Bible so that I will not be stagnant. These poems represent the highs and lows of my journey and the many things I have learned along the way. I have counted it all joy and come out on the other side victorious. I want to share my walk with you in the hope that you, too, will move toward your destiny and be everything God has created you to be.

Dana Gilmore

Dana Gilmore was born in Baltimore, Maryland, where she attended Baltimore City Public Schools. At only five years old, she had already started writing poems and short stories. If one walked the halls of her elementary school, they would have found her poetry on display. She went on to graduate from Strayer Business College in 1987 and always continued writing. Merry-Go-Round is her first collection of poems, where she shares her life’s mission: to grow in her relationship with God and fulfill the destiny He has for her.
